Glenside, Pa. - (11/16/2021) - Led by their sophomore backcourt duo of Aziz Parker (Westhampton, N.J.) and Manny Clark (Pottsgrove, Pa.), Gwynedd Mercy University (3-1) enjoyed an 82-73 victory over Arcadia University (0-5) in tonight's Battle of 309. Parker hit 10-of-15 (.667) from the floor, including a 4-of-7 (.571) effort from long range in his 26-point performance. Meanwhile, Clark offered a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds. Two other Griffins finished in double figures; senior guard Ty Jones (Harlem, N.Y.) and graduate forward Donaven Spencer (Sicklerville, N.J.) both totaled a dozen (12) points. The former added nine rebounds, two assists, and two steals, while the latter additionally provided four rebounds, three assists, and a steal. 

Gwynedd Mercy University scored the first 10 points of the contest, 10-0 (16:38), and led by 27 points, 46-27 (0:14), at halftime thanks to a 19-point half from Parker. Jones supported with nine points, two assists, and two steals, Unfortunately, Arcadia University erased the deficit midway through the second half as the Knights tied the contest, 58-58, with 9:55 remaining on the clock. A three from Parker (64-63, 6:54) and a pair of free throws from Clark (66-63, 6:31) triggered the Griffins for a 16-10 run to the final buzzer.

Gwynedd Mercy University plays next on Friday, November 19, when they square off versus Washington and Jefferson College in their first contest (5:00 p.m.) of the Juniata College Tournament.
