The Baruch College Bearcats lost 78-76 to the Chargers of Lancaster Bible College in the opening match of the William Marshall Tip-off Tournament on Friday in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Adnan Bajrami knocked down a long three as time expired for a 79-78 score, but the officials waved it off saying it came after the horn sounded.

The Bearcats led throughout the evening, which included 39-32 at halftime, but the Chargers rallied back and took the lead late in the second half.

The Bearcats trailed 76-73 with 26 seconds left but Emil Purisic recorded a three-point play with 11 seconds remaining to tie the exciting season-opening contest.

Jordan Shewbridge knocked down two free throws with three seconds left to take back the lead 78-76. That set up the Bearcats for the final play that ended with the successful three by Bajrami being waved off.

The Bearcats will play FDU-Florham on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. in the consolation game of the tournament being hosted this weekend by Franklin & Marshall.

Purisic led the visiting Bearcats with 16 points, while Liam Sanborn had 13 points.
