FREDERICK, Md. - A slow start in the first half was too much to overcome against No. 1 Randolph-Macon as the Hood College men's basketball team fell 84-63 in the championship game of the MMI Tip Off Tournament.

- Evan Wang led Hood with 20 points and added three assists and two steals.

How it Happened
- Evan Wang hit two 3-pointers in the first four minutes and 12 seconds as the Blazers took an early 6-4 lead.
- The Yellow Jackets used a 17-6 run over the next six and a half minutes to take the lead 21-12 on a jumper by Miles Mallory at 9:10.
- After a pair of free throws by Garrison Linton with 3:29 to go in the half, Hood still trailed by nine, 27-18. The Blazers would not score again in the half and seven points by Randolph-Macon down the stretch made it 34-18 at the half.
- Mason Wang scored eight of his 10 points during a 13-4 run at the beginning of the half that cut the deficit to 38-31 with 17:03 remaining in the game.
- The Yellow Jackets quickly pushed the lead back to double figures on a pair of Buzz Anthony free throws at 15:09 and pulled away over the rest of the second half.
Analysis
- Randolph-Macon held a 40-20 edge in points in the paint and blocked six shots in the game.
- Hood shot 50 percent (13-of-26) in the second half after going just 5-of-29 in the first half.
- The Blazers were 19-of-20 at the free throw line (95 percent). The Yellow Jackets attempted just three foul shots in the game.
