How It Happened
CHESTER, Pa. – After defeating Widener in thrilling fashion last evening, Lebanon Valley's Men's Basketball team followed that up with another thrilling victory over the Pride this evening in MAC Commonwealth Men's Basketball action. The Flying Dutchmen clipped Widener 92-90 in double overtime to improve to 5-0, 4-0 MAC Commonwealth, while the Pride dropped to 3-3 3-3 MAC Commonwealth.

LVC is 5-0 to begin a season for the first time since 1998-99 when the Dutchmen won their first 12 games.

Tonight's game, similar to last night's, was close throughout. With 2:12 left in regulation, Bo Furey-Bastian hit back-to-back free throws to put the home team up 62-61. On LVC's ensuing possession, Collin Jones knocked down a jumper from Zach Tucker, but with 59 seconds left, Furey-Bastian connected a layup to put Widener back up by one. 18 seconds later, Bastian-Furey fouled Zach Tucker and he hit one-of-two free throws to tie things up at 64-64. After a pair of timeouts, the Pride held for the final shot, but Jared Peters' jumper wouldn't go and the teams went into extra time.

In the first overtime, the Dutchmen got out to a hot start beginning with Jones' layup, followed by Luis Garcia's trey to make it 72-66 in favor of LVC. After Steven Matlack hit a jumper, Jones drilled a 3-pointer to put the visitors up by seven at 75-68 with 3:09 left. Widener wouldn't go away, however, and kept chipping away and eventually came to within one after two free throws by Pat Holden made it 80-79. With seven ticks left, Tucker was fouled and made one free throw, but Steven Matlack hit a jumper as time expired to send the game into a second overtime.

In the second extra period, neither team could take a commanding lead, and with 2:29 left, Matlack's layup put the Pride up 87-86. Jones, however, answered in a huge way and knocked down a triple at the top of the key with 1:20 left to put LVC up 89-87. Widener's Matt Daulerio answered with a trey of his own, but L. Garcia stepped up with 47 seconds left and hit a 3-pointer of his own to make it a 92-90 score. The Pride had a chance to tie it late, but Tucker forced a turnover and the Dutchmen escaped Chester with a 92-90 2OT win.
