Benedictine Men Log Another Second Half Rally

LAKE FOREST, IL - The Benedictine University men's basketball team rallied in the second half for the second consecutive contest this week to take down Lake Forest in a non-conference road game.

THE DETAILS
Lake Forest scored the first eight points of the game and opened a double-digit lead at 17-6 with 13:01 left in the first half
A Trevor Montiel jumper brought Benedictine within 22-19 at the 8:32 mark of the half
The hosts scored seven straight to again lead by double figures and took a 35-28 lead into the half after a Michael Johnson three-pointer just before the buzzer
The defense stood tall in the second half and started to create offense
Trailing 37-28, Chris Hester opened an 11-0 run with a second-chance basket
Marvin Agwomoh capped the run with a layup in transition to put Benedictine ahead for the first time at 38-37 with 15:59 remaining
Cade Ellingson kicked off a 7-0 run with a jumper and a three from Anthony Lynch put Benedictine in front 50-43 midway through the second
Nick Kosich recorded a second-chance basket with 4:12 to go to put Benedictine ahead by double figures at 62-52
Lake Forest chopped the deficit to five points in the final minute but free throws accounted for the final score as Benedictine outscored the hosts 39-24 in the second

Agwomoh tallied 13 points off the bench to lead Benedictine
Montiel was the only other player to reach double figures with 12
Benedictine shot 41.3 percent in the game but struggled from three-point range, finishing just 4-of-25 (16%)
Lake Forest was the sixth opponent this season to be held to under 70 points
