LATROBE, Pa. -- Cameron Seemann(Loveland, Ohio/Archbishop Moeller) poured in game-high 20 points and Jake Livingston (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) recorded his first collegiate double-double to power W&J to a dominant 78-60 victory over Saint Vincent at the Carey Center.
The victory was the first road win for W&J in Latrobe since 2007, as the Red and Black snapped a 14-game losing streak in the Carey Center. The Presidents knocked down a season-high 11 three-pointers and held a staggering 50-27 edge in rebounding.
W&J was on its game offensively from the get go as Livingston scored eight points and pulled down three offensive rebounds in the first five minutes to help W&J build an early 10-4 lead.
After a score by Saint Vincent, consecutive baskets by OkikiolaAgbale(Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler), Seemannand Nicholas Campalong(Sewickley, Pa./Ambridge) extended the Presidents' lead into double digits at 16-6.
W&J maintained its lead for the remainder of the half. A three-point basket by Zach Queen (Jeannette, Pa./HempfieldArea) swelled the lead to 29-16, the largest lead of the first half for W&J.
Saint Vincent would use a spurt to cut the W&J advantage to six but a pair of free throws by Agbalesent the Red and Black into halftime with a 34-26 lead.
W&J put the game away in the early minutes of the second half. After five-straight points cut the Presidents' lead back into single digits, Seemanndrained three consecutive triples to extend the lead to 55-37 with 14:16 to play.
The Presidents would hold a double-digit lead the rest of the way. The closest Saint Vincent would get was 11 points at 60-49. However, the Bearcats were assessed a technical foul. The Presidents took advantage, using a 11-1 run to put the game out of reach.
Queen (13 points) and Campalong(11 points) joined Seemannand Livingston as double figure scorers. KyranMitchell ((Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) was once again a factor on the glass, as the sophomore finished with 10 boards.
OsyonJones led Saint Vincent with 17 points. The Bearcats connected on just 4-of-19 triples and missed on 8-of-16 free throws.
W&J, who improves to 3-1 with the win, hosts Franciscan on Saturday, Feb. 17 at the SalvittiFamily Gymnasium. This will be the first meeting between the two schools since the Barons joined the PAC. Tip-off is slated for 1 p.m.
