Tigers Fall in Season Opener

Mt. Pleasant, IA - February 6, 2021 - The Tiger Men's Basketball team opened up their 2021 season inside the Ruble Arena this afternoon as they played host to the Cornell College Rams in a non-conference matchup. Kaleb Cresswell put up the first three points in the game, draining a  3-pointer within the first 20 seconds. The Tigers did not hold onto that lead for long and were quickly outscored by the Rams. IW couldn't regain their momentum and ultimately fell to the Rams, 75-51.

Cresswell was the leading scorer for the Tigers and the only member of IW to reach double digits, tallying 14 points. Cresswell also recorded 3 assists for the day. Alex Dentlinger was next on the list with 7 points.

Jarryd Fernandes once again showed that he can be a key player for the Tigers on defense, securing 14 rebounds in the game. Five Tigers brought down 3 rebounds apiece.

Jett Tjaden and Shawn Lafrance each managed to snag 3 steals.

The Tigers shot 31.5% from the field, 31.6% from beyond the arc, and just 55% from the free-throw line.

*At this time, no spectators are allowed at any home athletic event for the Tigers.*
