Alderete, Thompson Earn Postseason Honors from D3hoops.com and NABC

ITHACA, N.Y. – D3hoops.com and the National Association of Basketball Coaches released their All-Region and All-Districts awards on March 17 and two members of the Ithaca College men's basketball team, seniors Sebastian Alderete and Riley Thompson, were recognized.

D3hoops.com tabbed Thompson as a first-team honoree in the East Region, while Alderete was a third-team selection. The NABC selected Alderete to its first-team and Thompson found a spot on the second-team.

The senior duo guided Ithaca to one of its most successful seasons in program history, as the Bombers matched a school record with 24 victories and reached the NCAA Division III Championship for the time since 2012-13. The Bombers won their first round matchup against Babson, 94-88, in overtime before falling to No. 1 Swarthmore, 86-78, the following day. IC earned an automatic bid to the tournament after winning the Liberty League title over Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, 80-69, in overtime.

This season, Thompson led the Liberty League in scoring at 18.4 points per game. Despite missing four games in his final campaign, Thompson poured in 478 points and made 67 3-pointers and 103 free throws. For his career, Thompson scored 1,517 points, which ranks sixth all-time, while his 222 made 3-pointers are third in program history.

Alderete, the Liberty League Tournament Most Outstanding Player, scored 491 total points this season to lead the Bombers. He averaged 16.9 points per game, which ranked second in the Liberty League. He also paced IC with 6.8 rebounds per contest and shot 47.6-percent (197-for-414) from the field. Alderete notched four double-doubles this season, including three over the final four games of the year. Alderete finished his career with 1,285 points, which ranks 11th all-time.
