GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA. -- Gwynedd Mercy led from start to finish in their 86-61 win over Immaculata Wednesday night in Atlantic East action at The Griffin Complex.
Three players reached double figures led by Rich Dunham's game-high 27 points. Donaven Spencer (17 points) and Somah Slewion (14) helped the Griffins close in on cementing the #2 playoff seed as the team will play its regular-season finale on Saturday at home against Wesley.
Asa Kitchen netted a team-high 15 points off the bench for the Mighty Macs, who also got 14 from Tyler Tillery and 13 from Jordan Ambrose.
Dunham's three-pointer gave GMercyU a 28-9 lead at the midway point of the first half. Gwynedd limited IU to just 25% in the stanza and would lead 43-18 at halftime.
Immaculata opened the second half on a 20-7 run capped by Kitchen's triple to make it a 50-38 contest with 13 minutes to play. Three pointers from Dunham and Slewion were a big part of a 16-1 run over a five minute span to turn the tide for good.
For the game, the team had its largest rebound margin of the season at +19 (44-25) and transformed 24 IU turnovers into 37 points on the night. Spencer was the king of the evening on the glass, pulling in 13. Jordan Perkins, Austin Harriott and Manny Clark each grabbed five.
The team can now clinch the #2 playoff seed and a first-round bye with a win over Wesley here on Saturday.
