Sewanee Men’s Basketball Downs Vikings to Compete Weekend Sweep on the Road

ROME, Ga. - The Sewanee men's basketball team posted a 63-53 victory over the Vikings of Berry College on Sunday afternoon from The Cage Center in a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Neither team had more than a one-possession lead until the 10-minute mark in the opening half when the Vikings made layups by Caleb Haynes to lead 17-13.

-The Tigers went on a 7-0 run later in the half to lead, 23-21 before the Vikings scored the next four points to lead 25-23 with three minutes left in the half.

-The teams went back-and-forth the final minutes of the period, but thanks to two free throws by Jordan Warlick evened the score at 32 points each at the break.

-In the first five minutes of the second half, Sewanee went on a 10-2 run to lead, 42-34. That would seal the contest for the Tigers, as they held the Vikings to a 23.3 field goal percentage (7-of-30) in the final 20 minutes. Additionally, Berry only posted a 1-of-14 mark from beyond the arc in the final half of play.

SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Adrian Thomas posted 19 points on 6-of-13 shooting and 7-of-7 from the charity stripe. The senior also added six rebounds, three steals and two dimes.

-Jordan Warlick contributed 13 points and six rebounds, while Joey Knox added 11 points.

-Ryan Starr totaled 10 points and four assists.

BERRY KEY STATISTICS
-Caleb Haynes was the only Berry player in double figures with 16 points and added eight boards.
