BOSTON --- With a game-high 21 points on 8-of-12 shooting, Jake Wisniewski (West Brookfield, MA) led WPI to its third-straight victory with an 87-64 rout of Emerson and doing so improving to 13-3 on the season, and 4-1 in the NEWMAC standings.  

For the second-straight game, four WPI players finished in double figures led by Wisniewski and followed by Colin McNamara (Arlington, MA) with 18 points, John Lowther (Hingham, MA) who finished with 15 points and a team-high six boards and Kahleb Downing (Middletown, CT) who added 14 points and six assists on the night.

The win keeps WPI atop the NEWMAC standings.  The Engineers, who are receiving votes in the most recent D3hoops.com Top 25 is now 13-3 overall and 4-1 in conference action.  Emerson dips to 10-6 on the season and 3-2 in NEWMAC play.

Wisniewski's 21 points set a new career mark bested his previous high of 19, registered the last time out and on three other occasion.

Jarred Houston (Lower Gwynedd, PA) led Emerson (10-6, 3-2) with 16 points and seven rebounds. Zach Waterhouse (Greensburg, PA) finished with 14 points and Jack O'Connor (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL) added eight in the loss.

WPI finished with an outstanding 58.9 field goal percentage including a 66.7 clip from behind the arc draining eight of the team's 12 attempts. Emerson shot 42 percent from the field and was just 23.1 from deep making just three treys during the game.

The Crimson and Gray shot 42.4 percent in the win (28-66) making four of 12 from 3-point range while the Bears shot 47.2 percent (25-53) and made five of 16 from behind arc. The Engineers held a 37-27 rebounding edge including 15 offensive rebounds in the contest that was a rematch of last season's NEWMAC Tournament championship game.

WPI finished with 21 assists on the team's 33 made baskets on the night and dominated in the paint outscoring the Lions 36-28. 

After a tight first nine minutes of action with WPI up 18-15, the Engineers raced out on an 11-0 run in less than two minutes  to gain a 29-15 advantage that forced Emerson into calling a timeout. Downing finished the span with a pair of assists and a steal and capped the run off draining a three with 9:26 to go in the first half. 

Emerson answered that run with a 10-2 run of its own forcing WPI into a timeout just a couple of minutes later but a Downing trey ended that stretch and WPI never looked back ending the first half with a 47-33 lead. The Lions got within 10 early into the second half, but the Engineers responded quickly and efficiently with John Lowther (four points), Jake Wisniewski (four points) and Colin McNamara (five points) combining on a 13-2 run over a five-minute stretch to build up a 21-point lead racing off to the victory. 

WPI returns home Saturday for the first time in two weeks, entertaining Clark at 2pm.  Emerson closes out a three-game home stand Saturday, hosting Wheaton at 1pm.
