Adler Named SCIAC Offensive Player of the week

LOS ANGELESJacob Adler was named the SCIAC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after leading Oxy to a pair of wins last week.

The Tigers have won four games in a row and are now 4-2 and in second place in the SCIAC with victories over Chapman, Cal Lutheran, La Verne and Whittier.

Adler, a 6-foot-1 junior guard from Portland, Ore., averaged 21.5 points per game on 15 of 28 shooting, and averaged 4 assists, 2.5 rebounds and one steal per game on the week. Oxy beat La Verne 86-63 and Whittier 71-66. 

It's the second week in a row that an Oxy basketball player has earned a weekly honor. Sydney Shipp was named the SCIAC Defensive Player of the Week last week.

Oxy has had four different players recognized with the weekly awards with Caleb Yellin-Flaherty and Ryan Kaneshiro joining Adler and Shipp.

Adler is scoring and shooting at an impressive clip this year, with much improved defense and rebounding. He's currently second in the conference with 18.2 points per game through the six SCIAC games.

Oxy is back in action at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
