How it Happened
The 15th-ranked Johns Hopkins men's basketball team shot a scorching 75.0 percent from the field in the second half in a 92-62 win over visiting Ursinus Saturday afternoon.
Trailing 30-25 with 3:49 to play in the first half, sophomore Tom Quarry converted a pair of free throws that ignited a 33-2 run. Six different players scored during the run that spanned halftime but ate up just over eight minutes of game time. Sophomore Ethan Barlett capped the run with back-to-back three-pointers, which staked Hopkins to a 58-32 lead with 15:29 to play.
It was all Blue Jays for the remainder of the game as their lead ballooned to as much as 32, but never dipped below 21. In all, 10 different players scored for Hopkins in the 30-point win.
The first half was a different story as Ursinus jumped out to a six-point lead, thanks in part to three-pointers by Ryan Hughes and Jimmy Kpadeh. A Quarry layup and a Conner Delaney three, sandwiched around a Ryan McTamney triple, pulled the Blue Jays within three with 14:29 to go in the half. The teams traded scores and Ursinus led 13-9 before a Joey Kern corner sliced the deficit to one. That sparked an 11-6 burst by the Blue Jays that turned a one-point deficit into a four-point lead with 7:18 left. The Bears answered with a 11-2 run, capped by a Lucas Olshevski three-pointer that put Ursinus up 30-25.

This was the first time five Blue Jays had scored in double figures since an 84-59 win at Neumann on November 20.
• McTamney led all scorers with 25 points, and five assists, and was the only Bear to finish in double digits. Bruce Edwards had a game-high seven rebounds to go with eight points and two assists.
• Hopkins held Ursinus nearly 20 points below its season average (81.4 ppg) and the 62 points were the fewest the Bears had scored since January 4. The 92 points for the Blue Jays matched their season-high (a 92-62 win over Moravian on December 1).
