The Baruch College Bearcats shot 53 percent (27-for-51) and four players scored in double-figures for a 72-66 CUNYAC home win against the Bloodhounds of John Jay College on Monday night in the ARC Arena.

With the exception of an opening three by the visiting Bloodhounds, the Bearcats led throughout the contest and averted a late come back to clinch the win.

The Bloodhounds managed to get as close as 67-65 after a pair of free throws by Kyle LaGuardia with 2:32 left, which forced a timeout.

Each team made a defensive stop keeping the score at 67-65 with about one minute left but a game-busting three by Adnan Bajrami made it 70-65.

The Bloodhounds hit a free throw to cut the score to 70-66, but Jack Reese scored on a layup with 37 seconds left, which was enough to clinch the home win and the final 72-66 scoreline.

The Bearcats received quality contributions from the bench with 32 total points to record their second straight win and improve to 3-0 in the CUNYAC.

Bajrami led with 15 points, while Emil Purisic and Benjamin Boateng had 11 each. Ryan Graziano finished with 10.

LaGuardia led the Bloodhounds with 15 points, 13 rebounds, and three steals.

The Bearcats will continue a busy week to start 2020 with a CUNYAC contest at Medgar Evers on Wednesday night.
