LEXINGTON, Ky. – Sixth-ranked Marietta College shot 49 percent from 3-point range as it claimed the championship game of the Don Lane Classic with a 96-70 victory over Albion College.
Albion never led in the game, though it stayed close for the first 10 ½ minutes. The Britons trailed 23-17 when Juwan Perry made a pair of free throws.
Jake Montgomery hit 3-point baskets on consecutive possessions as Marietta extended the margin to 37-22 with six minutes left in the first half and the Pioneers held a double-digit lead the rest of the way.
Albion Notes
- Caden Ebeling represented Albion on the all-tournament team. He scored 22 points, shooting 8-of-13 from the field and 6-of-7 from the line, and came up a rebound shy of a double-double. He has scored at least 20 points seven times during his Albion career, including twice this season.
- Cortez Garland chipped in with a career-high 15 points. It was the fourth time he's scored in double figures this season.
- Jamezell Davis, Jr. added 13 points and a team-high four assists.
Next Up
Albion, 6-2 overall, will return to campus Dec. 26 for a couple of practice sessions to prepare for the McDonald's of Bluffton Holiday Classic. The Britons will meet Baldwin Wallace University at 2 p.m. on Dec. 28 and Otterbein University at 2 p.m. on Dec. 29.
