BIDDEFORD, Maine -- The University of New England connected on 61.5 percent of its field goal attempts and knocked down 11-of-21 from long range to defeat Salve Regina University, 107-91, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball action Saturday afternoon (Dec. 7) at the Harold Alfond Forum.

The Seahawks shot 50.8 percent from the floor on their side of the ball, but a pair of timely runs by the Nor'easters separated the two teams. UNE improves to 6-4 overall and 1-2 in CCC outings with the victory, while Salve drops back to 2-6 on the year (0-2 CCC).

Siddiq Canty paced the hosts' season-best scoring output with 25 points. Avery DeBrito poured in 21 points with eight assists, and Alex Kravchuk scored 16 of his 21 following the break, to go with five rebounds. Ric Castillo and Ray Evans each contributed eight points.

Kevin Kelly had 31 points and seven assists to lead the Seahawks. Cameron Collins notched 15 of his 20 points in the opening stanza, and collected eight boards. Patrick Williamson and Mikey Spencer added 14 and 10 points, respectively.

Shortly after SRU grabbed its largest advantage at 27-19, the Nor'easters used a span of 3:16 to rattle off a 17-2 spurt to take control for good (46-37). UNE sat on a 61-50 margin at the half and soon turned in a 15-4 run -- featuring 10 from Kravchuk -- to build the gap up to 20 (84-64) with 10 minutes remaining. Still flying high on the momentum surge, a DeBrito steal led to Canty throwing down a one-handed alley-oop a minute later. [Watch]
