The Hope College men's basketball team lost at Albion College, 87-56, on Saturday in the regular-season finale.
The Flying Dutchmen finished in a three-way tie for third place in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association standings.
Hope (15-10 overall, 8-6 MIAA) claimed the No. 5 seed for the MIAA Tournament after losing tiebreakers with both Calvin College (head-to-head) and Olivet College (record vs. first-place Trine).
The Flying Dutchmen will play at Calvin in a 7 p.m. quarterfinal on Wednesday, February 20. The winner advances to play at top-seeded Trine University in a 3 p.m. semifinal on Friday, February 22.
Hope never led after Albion (17-8, 10-4 MIAA) scored the game's first seven points.
The Britons charged to a 46-21 halftime lead.
Senior guard Jason Beckman of Shelby, Michigan (Shelby HS) scored 16 points to lead the Flying Dutchmen.
Hope shot a season-low 32.4 percent from the field (27-68).
Albion guard Jaylin Fordham led five Britons in double figures with 16 points.
Albion earned the No. 2 seed in the MIAA Tournament with the win.
