Men's Hoops Closes out Regular Season with 73-61 Win over Delaware Valley

Center Valley, PA (February 16, 2019) - Sophomore Timmy Edwards scored a career-high 24 points, missing just one shot, leading the DeSales University men's basketball team past Delaware Valley University, 73-61, to close out the regular season schedule in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon in Billera Hall.

How it Happened

  • The Aggies started quickly taking a 10-4 lead early before DSU tied the game at 12 on back-to-back 3's from senior Luke Connaghan.
  • The game remained tied at 20 before a quick 7-1 DeSales run gave the Bulldogs a 27-21 lead and DSU took a 36-30 advantage into the locker room as the half.
  • DeSales scored the first two baskets of the second-half to lead by 10 (40-30) before a 10-0 Aggie run tied the game at 42 at the 14:22 mark.
  • The two teams went back-and-forth over the next six minutes with Edwards scoring nine of DSU's 13 points during that stretch to give DSU a 55-50 lead at the 8:38 mark.
  • It was still a five point game with just over five minutes left when a lay-up from Connaghan was followed by a three-point play from Edwards pushing the lead back to 10 (63-53) with 4:57 left.
  • DelVal scored the next four points to get within six but a three from junior Ben Pratt and another bucket from Edwards gave DeSales a 68-57 lead and the Bulldogs never looked back from there.

  • Edwards shot 11-of-12 from the field in the win for his career-high 24 points.
  • Connaghan added 13 points and pulled down five rebounds.
  • Junior Tracy Simsick handed out a career and game-high seven assists.
