Senior Marcos Echevarria poured in a game-high 24 points in Nichols College's 92-66 win over Anna Maria College in non-conference men's basketball action Saturday afternoon at the Nichols Athletic Center.
Sophomore Nate Tenaglia chipped in 19 points as he knocked down five triples for the Bison (8-0) while classmate Matt Morrow posted a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds and junior Jerome Cunningham filled the stat sheet with nine points, 14 rebounds, five blocks, two assists, and one steal. Nichols shot 43 percent from the floor and rattled in 38 percent of its three-point attempts (15-of-40), highlighted by six from Echevarria.
Junior Mike Rapoza notched a double-double for the AMCats (2-6) with 15 points and 15 rebounds in 34 minutes of action. Junior Bobby Perette scored nine points as Anna Maria shot 39 percent – including just 22 percent from downtown (4-of-18).
Nichols used a 12-4 run in the first half to open up a 12-point lead at 35-23. Junior Kash Jackson dropped in a three-pointer inside the final minute of play to extend the lead to 15 points at halftime. Echevarria led all student-athletes with 17 points while Rapoza had seven to pace AMC.
The Bison opened the second half on a 15-5 run behind a four-point play from Echevarria and three's from Tenaglia and Bruton to grab a 25-point lead (58-33). The lead grew to as many as 27 following a layup from Bruton at the 13:10 mark.

-Tonight's contest marked the 48th all-time meeting between Anna Maria College and Nichols College. The Bison have won the last four meetings and lead the series, 27-21.
-With today's win, the Bison moved to 8-0 on the season – the best start in program history.
-Nichols began the day one of 14 programs in the d3hoops.com Top 25 with an unblemished record.
