The Nichols College men's basketball team lost to Gordon College 76-72 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon at the Nichols Athletics Center.
The Bison (11-2, 3-1 CCC) shot a season low 37% from the field and 22% from behind the arc in the second lowest scoring game of the year. Sophomore Matt Morrow continued his hot shooting as he put up another double-double with 19 points and 13 boards, shooting 9-14 from the field. Senior Marcos Echevarria and junior DeAnte Bruton combined for 28 points but both struggled from behind the arc, combined 4-21 from the distance.
The Fighting Scots (13-1, 5-0 CCC) were led by junior guard Eric Demers who notched 32 points to help Gordon stay undefeated in CCC play. Big men Garrisson Duvivier and Parker Omslaer combined for 28 rebounds and four blocks down low to help lock down the Fighting Scots defense.
Three things you need to know…
-This was Gordons first win over the Bison since 2014, a 69-65 win in the first round of the CCC championship.
-Gordon took 32 free throws, compared to the six that Nichols received.
-This was Morrows seventh double-double of the season.
