Hamilton College's Mark Lutz '20 drained six 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 22 points as the nationally ranked No. 11 Continentals posted an 80-65 non-conference win against the Wells College Express at Wells' Schwartz Center on Monday night.

Hamilton (17-2 overall) was 14 of 30 (46.7 percent) from beyond the arc and was credited with 21 assists on 28 baskets. The Continentals rested two of their regular starters.

The Express (3-14) were 22-for-25 at the free-throw line but shot 34 percent from the field and committed 18 turnovers. Wells lost its fifth straight game.

Hamilton's Peter Hoffmann '19 chipped in 11 points and moved into 17th place on the program's all-time scoring list with 1,303. Spencer Kendall '21 dropped in 10 points and Andrew Groll '19 grabbed a team-high six rebounds. Sayo Denloye '20 filled the stat sheet with eight points, three steals and a career-best eight assists. Denloye and Lutz made their first career starts with the Continentals.

Zach D'Arpino paced the Express with 15 points off the bench. Ty McBride contributed 13 points and five steals, Jalen Tribble registered 12 points and eight boards, and Dylan Frost scored 10.

Hamilton jumped out to a 15-0 lead in the first five minutes and led the whole way. Lutz started things off with a 3-pointer, Hoffmann made the second of two free throws and Denloye canned a trifecta. Kena Gilmour '20 converted an old-fashioned 3-point play, Lutz found Kendall for a basket down low, and Lutz capped the run with another bucket from downtown.

Wells missed its first three shots and turned the ball over five times before McBride nailed a 3-pointer with 14:38 left in the first half. The Express didn't get closer than nine points the rest of the night.

An offensive rebound and putback by Lutz gave the Continentals their first 20-point lead at 30-10 with 6:13 remaining. Hamilton went into the break with a 42-23 advantage as Lutz poured in 17 points in the opening 20 minutes.

Lutz's final 3-pointer handed the Continentals their largest lead of 25 points at 55-30 with 14:42 to go. Hamilton shot 52 percent (13 of 25) in the second half.

The Continentals are back at Margaret Bundy Scott Field House for a NESCAC game against Bates College (6-13, 3-4) on Friday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m.
