- The Lead: Led by double-doubles from seniors Bradley Jomard (Paris, France) and Tim Roberts (Oak Bluffs, Mass.), the No. 12 MIT men's basketball team came away with a 77-59 wire-to-wire win over Springfield College on Wednesday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Led by a pair of early three-pointers, the Engineers took a 14-2 lead over the first 5:29 as the team came out with energy on both ends of the court. The Pride cut the lead down to just three at 25-22 following a three from Jake Jacobson before MIT closed the half on a 23-6 run for the 48-28 lead at the break.

- MIT shot 54.3 percent from the field in the first half and turned Springfield over 13 times over the first 20 minutes.

- In the second, MIT pushed the lead up to 23 at 55-32 with 16:57 on the clock before Springfield countered with an 11-2 run. Jomard nailed a three at the 8:01 mark for the 67-45 margin and led by at least 18 over the remainder of the contest.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:  

- Jomard led the team with 24 points to go along with 10 assists as he now has back-to-back double-digit assist performances. Roberts now has 10 straight and 12 overall double-doubles for the season as he finished with 21 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 10-for-14 from the field.

- Senior Dakota Pierce (Thousand Oaks, Calif.) recorded 12 points behind a trio of three-pointers, while sophomore Ian Hinkley (Raleigh, N.C.) nearly picked up the double-double with 16 points and eight rebounds.

- For the Pride, Jake Ross recorded a game-high 29 points with eight rebounds, three assists and two steals. Jacobson was also in double figures for Springfield with 11 points off the bench. 

- MIT held a 35-25 advantage on the boards, forced 20 Springfield turnovers and outscored the Pride, 38-16, in the paint.

UP NEXT:

- MIT wraps up its three-game homestand on Saturday, January 19th as the Engineers host Babson College for a 2 p.m. start. The game is a rematch of last year's NEWMAC semifinals and is the first of two meetings between the two teams over an 11-day period.
