MILTON, Mass. -- The University of New England turned in a 34-11 run in the latter portion of the 1st half to take control of a 125-109 Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's basketball victory over Curry College on Thursday night (Jan. 10) at Katz Gymnasium.

DeMarquez Hadnot poured in 27 points and dished out four assists to pace the Nor'easters (5-10, 3-3 CCC), who won for the second consecutive game. Alex Kravchuk tossed in 16 points before fouling out, and Ryan Beattyregistered 14 points with six rebounds.

Jordan Bagshaw knocked down four from behind the arc to add 12 points, and Drake Gavin posted 11. Drew Patno secured a team-high eight boards.

UNE capitalized on 34 Curry turnovers by translating them into 51 points towards the win.

The Nor'easters separated from a back-and-forth start with the six-minute stretch that established a 55-35 cushion. Kravchuk (10), Hadnot (8), and Bagshaw (6) accounted for 24 of the points scored during the span. The visitors hit 10-of-19 from long distance in the opening period, and out-scored the Colonels by 11 at the charity stripe on the way to a 64-51 lead.

Curry got as close as 10 (79-69) in the 2nd, but then fell behind by 24 down the stretch.

Jared Thorpe-Johnson totaled a game-best 29 points and nine rebounds for the hosts (1-14, 0-6 CCC). Alex Stein supported with 25 points, and Rj Hadfield dialed up 20 more. Kieran Carroll recorded 12 points and 11 caroms, which helped the Colonels to a 53-34 advantage on the glass. Dwayne Boothe nearly had a double-double, as well, ending with 10 points and nine rebounds.
