The Hope College men's basketball team wants to be in a giving mood to each other all time - and not just this Christmas season.
The Flying Dutchmen shared enough Tuesday to record an 89-78 victory against Grace Christian University on Tuesday at DeVos Fieldhouse.
Hope (4-2 overall) beat a 10-win opponent while registering 22 assists on the Flying Dutchmen's 33 baskets.
Twenty of those assists came from Hope's three leading scorers: guard Jason Beckman, guard Riley Lewis, and forward Teddy Ray.
"That stat just leaps off the sheet," head coach Greg Mitchell said of his team's second-highest assist total of the season. "That's who we need to be. We're better when the ball is moving."
Hope outscored Grace Christian 50-38 after trailing at halftime.
Beckman scored a game-high 33 points and matched his season-high. The senior from Shelby, Michigan (Shelby HS) shot 56.5 percent from the field (13-23) and 50 percent from 3-point range (7-14).
The seven 3-pointers are personal-best for Beckman in a Hope uniform.
