RIPON, Wis. - Ripon's men's basketball team shot 51 percent (32-63) from the field Saturday afternoon, including 44 percent (10-23) from 3-point range, en route to an 82-58 win against Illinois College, marking Head Coach Ryan Kane's 100th career victory. In his seventh season at the helm of the Red Hawks, Kane now holds a 100-52 career record (.658 winning pct.), making him the third-winningest coach in program history. The Red Hawks are also now 51-15 at home during Kane's tenure (.773), including 4-0 this season.

Illinois College (2-5, 0-2 MWC) scored the first basket of the game, a 3-pointer by Sean McDonald on the Blueboys' first possession, but Ripon (4-1, 2-0 MWC) answered with a 3-pointer of their own by Trent Jones on the ensuing possession. Jones scored another basket on Ripon's next possession, giving Ripon a lead that they would hold until the final buzzer. Illinois College stuck around for much of the first half, before the Red Hawks used a 9-0 run to take a 10-point lead on a Beau Cary layup with four and a half minutes remaining in the first half. That lead would be whittled down to three by halftime however.

The Red Hawks turned up the intensity in the second half, scoring the first nine points of the period to take command of the game. After Illinois College cut that lead to nine with under 14 minutes remaining, Ryan Steffes connected on a 3-pointer to put Ripon up by 12, and they would lead by double digits for the rest of the game. Ripon's largest lead of 27 came with just over two minutes left when Ben Young connected on a jumper to cap an 18-2 run.

Ripon was led by Cal Schultz, who became the first Ripon player in two years to record three consecutive 30-point games. He also recorded his first career double-double with 30 points and 10 rebounds, making 11-of-16 shots, including 5-of-7 from 3-point range, while adding three assists and two steals. Freshman Tyson Tully added career-highs of 11 points and six rebounds, in addition to three assists and two steals, while Steffes finished with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting, along with three rebounds and three assists. Jones also finished in double figures with 10 points, while pulling down five rebounds (three offensive) and recording three assists and two steals.

Illinois College was led by 16 points off the bench from Trae Robinson III. Isaac Collins added nine points, while McDonald and Mason Speer each scored eight.

Ripon will be in action again on Wednesday when they'll host Beloit College at Weiske Gymnasium. That game will begin at 7:30 p.m., and can be seen live at https://portal.stretchinternet.com/ripon/.
