More news about: St. Vincent

The Bearcats returned to their winning ways with a 79-55 victory at home over Penn State-Fayette in non-conference play at the Carey Center.

The win gave head coach D.P. Harris his 300th for his career.

The Roaring Lions got on the board first, with London Hoxie hitting a three from the corner on the opening possession.

From there, it was all Saint Vincent over the next four and a half minutes.  After a free throw by Tom Kromka got SVC on the board, Ryan Dutton scored four straight points to make it 5-3.  Kromka then added six straight points, as the Bearcats continually passed the ball inside and used their size advantage.  Mike Simmons added a three, and Dutton ended the 16-point run with a layup that made it 16-3.

Josh Duda hit a three from the corner at the 12:40 mark that made it a 21-7 game, but Fayette battled back, cutting the gap to just ten, 26-16, near the 6-minute mark of the half.

However, Duda then responded with back-to-back three pointers to make it 32-16.  Simmons added a pull-up jumper, and David Stephen hit a three in the closing minutes as SVC opened a 39-20 lead at the half.

Stephen's 10 points, 5 rebounds, and three steals led the way in the opening 20 minutes for SVC.

The second half started the same way, with Hoxie hitting a three from the corner, but Kromka again answering.  Kromka added 4 more points inside, helping the lead build to 50-33 near the midway point of the second half.

Stephen quickly added five more points, then hit another stretch later in the half where he added seven more points, as the lead grew to 22 (66-44) with just over six minutes remaining.

Duda's fourth three-pointer of the night came at the 4-minute mark, making the score 70-48.

Walter Bonds added five points in the final two minutes as SVC earned its fourth win of the season.

Stephen led all scorers on the night with 22 points, while Kromka added 18.  Dutton tallied 13 and Duda had 12 for the Bearcats (4-1). Stephen had his first career double-double, with 10 rebounds.  Kromka tallied 8 boards.

Stephen and Bonds each had four steals for the Bearcats.

For the Roaring Lions (0-4), Hoxie had 16 points.
