Marietta upends SVC in tournament final

The Saint Vincent men's basketball team lost to host Marietta College in the championship of the Marietta College Tournament by a score of 115-68.

The Pioneers controlled the game from the start, shooting well and having the edge in rebounding. For the game, SVC hit 44.4% of its shots, while the Pioneers shot a stellar 62.5%, including 14-for-23 from outside the arc.

Marietta led in rebounds, 38-22 for the game.

Tom Kromka and Josh Duda led Saint Vincent with 12 points each, while Ryan Dutton added 11 points.  Tom Neugebauer put in a strong performance in the second half, finishing the game with 11 points.  David Stephen added 10 points.  Shemar Bennett and Drew Normandin each had three rebounds to lead SVC on the stat sheet.

Following the game, Kromka and Stephen were named to the All-Tournament team.

With the loss, Saint Vincent is now 3-1 on the season, and will return to action on Monday night (February 19), hosting Penn State-Fayette in the Carey Center at 7PM.
