England’s Double-Double Powers Bullets

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Bullets turned in their best defensive performance of the season and senior Matt England (Warrington, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) went off for his Centennial Conference leading sixth double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Bullets to a 56-41 victory in their final home game of the season in Bream Gym Wednesday night against the McDaniel Green Terror.

 

After a close first half of play between both teams, England hit a three-pointer to send Gettysburg (7-17, 5-12 CC) into the half up 22-19. In the second half, the Bullets went on a 15-0 run, hitting 6-of-7 field goals over a four minute span to go up 47-30 and pull away from the visiting Green Terror (5-19, 2-15 CC). Freshman Chris Jack (Reckange-Sur-Mess, Luxembourg/The Hun School of Princeton) and sophomore Nick Lord (Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor) both hit huge three-pointers for the Bullets during their run. McDaniel was only able to cut the deficit down to 13 the rest of the way.

 

Senior Cameron Stewart (Sydney, Australia/Newington College) had a strong performance of his own in his final home game as a Bullet with 12 points, six rebounds and four assists.

 

Josh McWilliams led the way for McDaniel with 15 points on the night.

 

Gettysburg finished 24-of-51 (47.1 percent) from the floor, including 6-of-18 (33.3 percent) from beyond the arc. The Bullets also won the battle on the boards, outrebounding McDaniel 35-27.

 

The Orange and Blue will finish out its season on Saturday at 3:00pm at Ursinus College.
