The Baruch College Bearcats limited John Jay College to 26 percent shooting (14-for-55), including just 2-of-17 from three, to finish the regular season on a high note with a 60-40 road victory.
With the result, the Bearcats clinch second place in the CUNYAC standings, thanks to finishing with a three-game conference winning streak to edge Staten Island on tie-breakers for second place to earn the coveted bye.
The Bearcats are also 10-1 in their last 11 CUNYAC contests to finish the season. They will next play in the CUNYAC semifinals on Tuesday, February 20, at CCNY.
The conference will release the entire tournament schedule following their traditional Awards Luncheon at the Water Club in New York City this Thursday afternoon.
The visiting Bearcats established the tone in the first half building a 30-17 lead and keeping the host Bloodhounds to only six field goals made in the opening 20 minutes.
Chimaechi Ekekeugbor totaled 14 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks. He continues to set the team's scoring mark, which now stands at 1,942 career points.
Bryler Paige and William Sixsmith each tallied 11 points. Sixsmith also moved into second place this evening in the team's all-time three-pointers made with 203. Current assistant coach Tammer Farid owns the record with 226.
