PITTSBURGH – Ryan Clamage's three-point goal at the buzzer was waved off and Carnegie Mellon University hung on for a 70-68 victory over the University of Rochester in a men's basketball game at Skibo Gym.

The Yellowjackets had the ball just over midcourt with 0:00.9 on the game clock. After a CMU timeout, Patrick Benka threw the ball to Clamage outside the left of the key. He shot and the ball went through cleanly. As the Yellowjackets celebrated, officials used a video review. They ruled the ball had not left his hands before the final buzzer and waved off the shot.

CMU built its largest lead, 66-53, with 7:15 to play after going on a 13-2 run over three minutes. Ryan Maha scored five points in the run as did Patrick Ehland.

Rochester answered with 15 straight points. Brendan O'Shea led the way, sinking a pair of three-pointers. His second one tied the game at 66-66 with 2:34 left. Andrew Lundstrom sank two free throws with 2:11 left, putting Rochester ahead (68-66) for the first time since early in the first half.

Colin McNeil's layup tied the score and CMU nosed in front when Zach Howarth made both ends of a one-and-one with 90 seconds to play. 

Lundstrom had a chance to tie the score at the 0:08 mark, but he missed the front end of a one-and-one. With five seconds left, Seth Henry missed a one-and-one for CMU. UR rushed the ball up court and it was knocked out of bounds with less than a second to play. That set up the final sequence.

Clamage led Rochester with 20 points. Ryan Algier had nine points and five rebounds. Patrick Benka scored eight points, Alexander Gamble had seven, Alexander Gamble had seven, and O'Shea scored six. UR is 14-8, 5-6 UAA.

Howarth scored 19 for CMU. McNeil had 13 plus seven rebounds, Ehland finished with 11, Maha had 10, and Henry scored eight with nine boards. Carnegie Mellon, which lost at the buzzer to Emory on Friday night, is 6-16, 2-9 UAA.
