The Millikin men's basketball team scored a road conference victory downing Elmhurst College 87-70 on February 7 in Elmhurst, Illinois. The win evened Millikin's season record at 11-11.
Millikin scored the opening basket and never trailed in the game. Elmhurst tied the game late in the first half, but the Big Blue took a 39-37 lead into the locker room at halftime. The Big Blue opened the second half strong and used a 27-9 run to go up 66-46 with 8:28 left in the game. Millikin's largest lead of the game was 86-61 with 2:39 to play.
The Big Blue shot 59 percent from the field and went 8-12 (67 percent) from three-point range. Elmhurst was limited to 38 percent from the field and went 6-20 (30 percent) from beyond the arc. Millikin out rebounded the Bluejays 36-26.
Zach Fisher led Millikin with a career high 33 points. Fisher was 13-17 from the field and 6-8 from three-point range. Elijah Henry had a double double with 20 points and 11 rebounds. Millikin Beaty had 17 points and a career high eight assists along with four steals.
Ryan Patton led Elmhurst with 19 points.
The victory gave Millikin Head Coach Mark Scherer a win in his first trip back to Elmhurst. Scherer coached the Bluejays for 17 seasons before retiring four years ago.
Millikin and Elmhurst both stand at 11-11, 4-9 on the season.
Millikin hosts Augustana on Feb. 10 at 7 p.m.
