Hartford, Conn. – The Trinity College Bantams trailed Williams College, 59-58, with 4 minutes left in the game but the visiting Ephs scored the game's final 16 points to win, 75-58, in New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC) men's basketball action this evening at Oosting Gymnasium.  Trinity drops to 13-5 overall and 2-3 in the NESCAC, while No. 15-ranked Williams improves to 15-4 overall and 4-2 in the league.  Trinity hosts No. 10-ranked Middlebury on Sunday at 2 p.m. for the second of four consecutive games against top-20 opponents.  The Ephs visit Oneonta State on Tuesday, January 30 at 7 p.m. in their next contest.

Trinity fell behind, 14-5, early, as Williams junior forward James Heskett (Cincinnati, Ohio) scored seven of his 21 first-half points during the Eph run.  The Bantams answered with an 11-0 spurt, going ahead, 16-14, on a layup by sophomore guard Joe Bell (Manchester, N.H.), but Williams went back ahead by eight at 31-23 with 5:20 left in the first half after a three-pointer by junior guard Bob Casey (Scranton, Pa.).  Trinity responded again and closed the opening stanza with a 10-2 run that included five points by sophomore guard Nick Seretta (Greenfield, Mass.) and a pair of free throws by junior guard Tim Flynn (Hartford, Conn.) that tied the game at 33-33 with 10 seconds on the clock. 

Heskett finished the first half with eight field goals in nine attempts and sank all four of his three-point tries, while the rest of the Ephs combined to shoot 5-for-22 from the floor (22.7%) and 2-for-8 from long range.  Seretta paced Trinity in scoring with seven points in the first 20 points, as the Bantams shot just 34.5 percent from the field (10-29) but made five of 11 tries from beyond the arc.   

Williams started strong in the second half as well, jumping ahead, 46-37, after five minutes of play on a drive by senior captain Cole Teal (Chesterton, Ind.).  Trinity cut its deficit to one at 51-50 at the midway point of the second half on a jumper by senior captain Eric Gendron (Merrimack, N.H.), but Heskett answered with two free throws and the Ephs pushed their lead back up to 58-52 with 7:23 remaining.  The Bantams mounted yet another comeback, scoring six of the game's next seven points on two Gendron drives and a bucket inside by rookie forward Donald Jorden (Tampa, Fla.) to make the score, 59-58, in the visitors' favor. 

Casey drilled a three-pointer to increase Williams' advantage to 62-58 with 4:19 on the clock, igniting the 16-0 run to end the game.  Trinity turned the ball over on four consecutive possessions, fell behind by double digits for the first time at 68-58 with under two minutes to play, and failed to score the rest of the way.  Gendron scored 13 of his team-high 18 points in the second half and added a game-high five assists, while Jorden paced Trinity on the boards with seven, and junior forward Connor Merinder (Andover, Mass.) blocked three shots and grabbed five rebounds.  Heskett totaled 34 points and added four steals, while Casey added 12 points, six rebounds, and three steals, and Teal had 11 points, six rebounds, and four assists for the Ephs.
