Buena Vista had six players score in double figures led by 15 points from Thomas Wisecup, and the Beavers overcame a two-point halftime deficit to complete the season sweep of Simpson College on Saturday night inside of Siebens Fieldhouse, 88-82.

The Storm hit a three-pointer just before the first-half buzzer to take a 33-31 lead at the break.  The Beavers have been a strong second half team all season long, and they came out on fire yet again.  The Storm tied the game up at 40-40, and that's when BVU took over. Wisecup hit back-to-back layups before Adam Juhl converted a layup and free-throw to spark an 11-0 run.  Canyon Hopkins gave the team its largest lead at 18 with a layup at the 9:14 mark, and it seemed to be in control.

It was a back-and-forth game over the next five minutes with neither team able to go on an  extended run during that stretch. Simpson, which had hit just five three-pointers over the first 35 minutes began to catch fire down the stretch.  The Storm made 5-of-6 from beyond the arc during a two-minute span that pulled them back within five with just under 30 seconds left.

BVU was solid from the line in the game, and made enough down the stretch to ultimately hold off the late surge by the Storm.

Wisecup was 5-of-8 from the field and made 4-of-5 from the charity stripe to lead the way.  Timothy Jeffries followed with 14 points while David Jeffries, Canyon Hopkins and Billy Sparks all chimed in with 13.  Sparks made three long range shots to aid his total as BVU went 7-of-16 overall from downtown.  David Jeffries matched his career-high by grabbing a team-leading eight board.  Connor Winkelman dished out five assists with Timothy Jeffries adding four.

The Beavers shot 60.8 from the field overall and 19-of-25 at the free-throw to win their second straight and remain tied atop the IIAC standings.

Sam Amsbaugh led all scorers with 25 points, including 11-for-11 at the free-throw line.  As a team, the Storm went 16-of-19 at the line and shot 44 percent from the field overall.

Buena Vista improves to 14-4 on the year (7-2 IIAC) and goes on the road for a pair of games next week, starting with a trip to Coe College (6-12, 2-7 IIAC). The Kohawks have dropped five straight, including a 77-67 loss to Central on Saturday.  Tip-off in Cedar Rapids is scheduled for 8:00 p.m.
