KING'S MEN USE EARLY SECOND HALF RUN TO POST 83070 WIN OVER MANHATTANVILLE

WILKES-BARRE — The King's College men's basketball used a decisive 28-7 run to start the second half as the Monarchs posted an 83-70 victory over visiting Manhattanville College Saturday afternoon in Scandlon Gymnasium.

With the win, King's improved to 7-8 overall and 3-1 in MAC Freedom play while Manhattanville fell to 6-9 and 0-4

King's led by a slim 37-35 margin at the half. The Valiants used a traditional three-point play to take a 38-37 lead but the Monarchs then went to work.

An inside bucket by Tyler Millan was followed by two straight driving lay-ups from Noah Tanner to give the Monarchs a 43-40 lead. Three-pointers from Bailey and Connor Callejas as well as a lay-up from Millan capped an 11-2 run. After a Manhattanville basket, Millan scored again inside, Fazzini converted a driving lay-up, and Callejas added two free throws to push the score to 65-42 with 11:00 remaining.

After the Valiants closed to 69-52 with 8:32 to play, King's used two foul shots from Lenny Radziak and another lay-up by Fazzini to push the score to 73-52 with 7:54 to go. Manhattanville would cut the lead to 76-61 but Fazzini countered with an inside basket to push the score to 78-61 with 4:04 remaining. The Valiants would come no closer than 14 points until the final 0:45 of the game.

Callejas led King's with 19 points and four three-pointers while Fazzini followed with 15 points and eight rebounds. Bailey added 14 points while Millan contributed 12 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Tanner posted in with nine points, five assists, and three steals while Radziak also chipped in with nine points and five boards.

Manhattanville was led by Alex Tucci with 18 points and 20 rebounds while Dom Arena added 11 points.

King's returns to action Wednesday with a 6:00 PM matchup at Misericordia University in Dallas.
