Duty rings up career-best, but Stout downed by Titans

OSHKOSH (January 10, 2018) - Freshman Joe Duty scored a career and game-high 24 points, but it wouldn't be near enough for UW-Stout as the Blue Devils were downed at 13th-ranked UW-Oshkosh, 89-66, Wednesday.

The Blue Devils (6-8, 0-3 WIAC) had to play catch-up all night as the Titans (12-2, 2-1 WIAC) jumped out to a 9-0 lead after only two minutes and fell behind 20-4 after seven minutes, then trailed 48-29 at halftime.

Stout shot 34.6 percent (9 of 26) in the first half and finished the game shooting 39.4 percent (21 of 53). The Titans shot 60.7 percent (17 of 28) in the first half, finishing the game by shooting 53.4 percent (31 of 58). Oshkosh connected on 12 3-points for the game, eight in the first half.

Duty scored 13 points in the first half and 11 in the second half, topping his previous career-best of 21 points. Duty was 7 of 12 from the floor, 3 of 5 from 3-point range and 7 of 8 from the line. He added a pair of steals to his evening. Zach Dahl added 10 points for the Blue Devils.

The Titans got 13 points from Jack Flynn, 11 from Adam Fravert and 10 each from Brett Wittchow and Ben Boots. Oshkosh held a distinct advantage off the glass, pulling down 44 boards to Stout's 22.

Stout will travel to UW-Whitewater, Saturday, Jan. 13, then return home to host UW-Eau Claire, Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 8 p.m.
