The Saint Vincent men's basketball team earned a 63-45 victory at home over Grove City in a Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup.

Grove City scored the game's first four points, forcing a Bearcat time out just over two minutes into the game.

The Bearcats then responded with nine straight points to take a 9-4 lead, with four different players scoring.  However, the Wolverines fought back to take a 15-13 lead at the 11:25 mark off a jumper by Nate Peters.

Matt D'Amico then started a rally for the Bearcats, scoring six consecutive points to give the Bearcats a 19-15 lead.  The lead ran to 23-15 before the Wolverines got back on the board, but once again SVC went on a run, this time a 10-0 rally sparked by a tip-in from Tom Neugebauer that turned into a conventional three-point play.  A Tom Kromka layup ended the run at the 3:28 mark, making the score 33-17.

Just over a minute later, Kyle Evans hit a three to run the lead to 36-19, and neither team was able to score in the final two minutes of the half.

The visitors scored the first four points of the second half to make the score 36-23, but it was D'Amico again that got the Bearcats moving with a jumper at the 18:38 mark to increase the lead to 15.   Mike Simmons followed with a three that gave the Bearcats a 41-23 lead.

Later, Simmons added another three, followed by a three from Jason Capco, making the score 53-30.

Grove City managed to cut the margin to 15 at the four minute mark, 55-40, but Evans hit a three then added a pair of free throws, reestablishing the 20-point lead, as the Bearcats cruised to the victory.

Evans (13), Capco (10) and D'Amico (10) each scored in double figures for Saint Vincent.  Austin Dedert and Evans each had six rebound, while Tom Kromka had four steals.  Andrew Beckman of Grove City was the game's top scorer with 14.

Saint Vincent is now 8-5 overall, 5-1 in the PAC.  Grove City falls to 10-3 overall, 3-3 in the conference.

The Bearcats return to action with a home contest against Thiel College on Wednesday (January 10) at 730PM.
