#13 York (Pa.) Earns 84-81 Road Win at Salisbury

SALISBURY, MD – The York College men's basketball team continued their season high five game road trip with another tight win as they defeated Salisbury University 84-81 in Capital Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night in Salisbury.

The Spartans improve to a school-record 12-0 as they are now ranked 13th in the nation in Division III. York is one of seven undefeated teams in the nation.

How It Happened

• The first half was a back and forth affair with neither team being able to gain any significant offensive traction. The opening 15 minutes of the game featured four ties and eight lead changes. The Spartans finally pushed out to a six-point lead on a Jason Bady lay up with 1:14 left in the stanza. Salisbury's Jack Ferguson hit a three with 33 seconds left in the half to cut York's lead to three (35-32) at the intermission.

• The Spartans maintained the lead throughout the second half. The York lead grew to a game-high nine points on a Jared Wagner three pointer with 11:02 left in the game. The lead would hit nine two more times, the third time coming on a Dalton Myers lay up with 4:35 left in the game.

• The Sea Gulls scored six straight, cutting York's lead to three at 71-68 with 3:07 showing on the clock. York answered with a six point run of their own, increasing the lead back to nine for the fourth and final time.

• York's lead stood at 84-77 with 24 seconds left. The Gulls got a lay up, a Spartan turnover and a tip in in the span of 14 seconds to get to with three at 84-81. York committed another turnover with just over five seconds left but Chad Barcikowski's three pointer to tie the game hit off the side of the backboard and the Spartans escaped the Maggs Center with a win.
