ASHLAND, Va. - Junior Grayson Midulla (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen) recorded his first collegiate double-double with 13 points and a career-high 10 rebounds as the Randolph-Macon men's basketball defeated Frostburg State 72-60 Friday evening in Crenshaw Gym in the first round of the R-MC Coaches Tournament sponsored by Kay Jewelers.

The Yellow Jackets (7-3) snapped a two-game losing streak and will face Hobart on Saturday at 4 pm in the championship game. The Bobcats (4-6) will meet Rowan on Saturday at 2 pm in the consolation contest.

Midulla was one of four Yellow Jackets to score in double figures. Senior Daniel Noe (Fairfax, Va./Bishop Ireton) led all scorers with 16 points off the bench, while sophomore Korey Turner (Midlothian, Va./Amelia Academy) tallied 12 and junior Darryl Williams (Columbia, Md./Glenelg Country) scored a season-high 11 in his first start of the season.

Midulla nailed a three-pointer with 16:40 left in the first half to give R-MC its first lead at 5-4. FSU used a 9-3 spurt to go up 13-8 midway through the first period. Williams had eight points in a 19-3 run as the Yellow Jackets took a 27-16 lead with 3:23 remaining. R-MC would take a 34-25 lead to the locker room at the break. Williams paced the Yellow Jackets with eight points, while Noe and Turner both had seven. R-MC committed just two turnovers in the first half compared to nine for the Bobcats.

Williams had a three-point play to spark a 12-3 start to the second half as the Yellow Jackets took a 46-28 advantage four minutes into the period. A 10-1 spurt by FSU cut the margin to nine at 47-38 with 12:12 left. A layup by Midulla capped a 16-4 run that gave R-MC its largest lead at 63-42 with 7:25 remaining. The Bobcats used an 11-1 spurt to make it 64-53 with four minutes left. The Yellow Jackets would hold on for the 72-60 win.

FSU was averaging 82.3 points per outing coming into the game, but the R-MC defense held the Bobcats to their lowest point total of the season.

Noe scored his 16 points in 19 minutes. He was 7 for 10 from the floor, hit his only three-point attempt and went 1 for 1 from the free throw line. Midulla was 6 for 9 from the floor and four of his 10 rebounds were on the offensive end. He recorded the first double-double for the Yellow Jackets this season. Williams had four rebounds, three assists and three steals to go with his 11 points.
