Boston, Mass.--Junior forward Justin Campbell (New Haven, CT) notched a double-double with 24 points and 15 rebounds as the Rhode Island College men's basketball team dropped a 68-59 decision at UMass Boston in a Little East Conference contest played at the Clark Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon

HOW IT HAPPENED

• RIC junior center Grant Gillis (Jamestown, RI) narrowly missed a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds.

• Senior guard Roosevelt Shider (Meriden, CT) chipped in with eight points and four rebounds in the loss for the Anchormen.

• Sophomore guard Ty Lee (Boston, MA) led the way for UMass Boston with 21 points.

• Senior guard Iser Barnes (Boston, MA) recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards in the win for the Beacons.

• RIC had control of the game early on and held a 12-4 advantage after a pair of free throws from Gillis with 15:43 remaining in the first half.

• The Anchormen took their first double-figure lead of the game, 17-7, on a three-pointer from freshman guard Adham Floyd (Worcester, MA) with 14:15 remaining in the stanza.

• RIC led throughout most of the first half and held the 34-31 advantage after a jumper by Floyd with 4:00 on the clock.

• UMass Boston then closed out the half on an 8-1 run to take a 39-35 lead heading into the locker room at halftime.

• The Beacons built on their lead throughout the early stages of the second half and took a 53-40 lead on a layup from Barnes with just under 14 minutes left in the contest.

• RIC cut the lead down to just three points several times late in the contest, but couldn't get any closer as UMass Boston held on for the victory.

• RIC shot 34.9 percent (22-of-63) from the field, 23.8 percent (5-of-21) from the three-point line and 76.9 percent (10-of-13) from the free throw line.

• UMass Boston shot 37.9 percent (22-of-58) from the field, 35.7 percent (5-of-14) from the three-point line and 73.1 percent (19-of-26) from the free throw line.

• RIC outrebounded UMass Boston by a 43-38 margin.
