HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Junior Montese Adams (Richmond, Va./Fuqua) scored 13 points and senior Daniel Noe (Fairfax, Va./Bishop Ireton) added 12 off the bench as the Randolph-Macon men's basketball team posted a 67-56 win over Misericordia Friday evening in the first round of the Doc Greene Tournament on the campus of Juniata College.

The Yellow Jackets (6-1), winners of six straight, never trailed in the contest. R-MC will face the winner of Juniata vs. St. Joseph's (Vt.) in the championship game on Saturday at 4 pm. The Cougars fell to 4-5.

Adams was 6 for 8 inside the arc and grabbed six rebounds. Noe was 5 for 9 from the floor and 2 for 2 from the free throw line.

Sophomore Korey Turner (Midlothian, Va./Amelia Acadey) hit a three-pointer to cap a 7-0 start for the Yellow Jackets. The R-MC defense held the Cougars scoreless for the first 4:40. Two treys by sophomore Corey Bays (Bel Air, Md./CM Wright) and a layup by freshman David Funderburg (Greensboro, N.C./Northwest Guilford) put R-MC up 10 at 15-5 with 13:10 left in the first period. A three-point play by MU cut it to five at 20-15 with 8:45 remaining. The Yellow Jackets led 23-17 before a pair of jumpers by Noe and a follow by Adams put R-MC up a dozen at 29-17 with 3:20 left. The Cougars scored four at the free throw line before a layup by junior Grayson Midulla (Glen Allen, Va./Glen Allen), a jumper by junior Jon Nowell (Riverdale, Ga./Blair Academy) and a three-pointer by Bays gave the Yellow Jackets a 36-21 lead at halftime. Bays had nine and Adams added seven for R-MC. The Yellow Jackets had 12 assists on 15 buckets. Turner and Midulla both had four assists, while freshman Buzz Anthony (Arnold, Md./Archbishop Spalding) chipped in three. The R-MC defense held MU to 29% shooting from the floor (7-24). The Yellow Jackets held a 21-13 edge on the boards, with Nowell and Midulla leading the way with four each.

Treys by Anthony and Midulla followed by a bucket by Noe created an 8-3 spurt to start the second half as the lead grew to 20 at 44-24 with 16:25 remaining. R-MC then went more than six minutes without a field goal, as a 14-2 run by the Cougars made it 46-38 with 10:20 left. A layup by Turner snapped the streak and sparked a 13-2 spurt that extended the lead to 19 at 59-40 with 5:45 remaining. The Yellow Jackets would score their final six points from the free throw line, including four by Midulla, as R-MC claimed the 67-56 victory.

Midulla finished with nine points, seven rebounds and five assists. Bays finished with nine points and Anthony had eight. Nowell had seven rebounds and Turner dished out six assists.

R-MC held MU to 34% shooting from the floor (19-56) and 20% on three-pointers (5-25).
