RANDOLPH-MACON NIPS RAMAPO IN SEASON OPENER

Arlington, VA:  The Randolph-Macon College men's basketball team used a balanced scoring attack, including 11 three-pointers in a 79-61 win over Ramapo College today at the 5th Annual Pablo Coto Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Marymount University.
 
The Roadrunners (0-1) led early in the first half 10-6 with 15:21 remaining before the Yellow Jackets went on an 8-0 run to take a 14-10 lead that they did not give up the reminder of the game. Cory Bays came off the bench for Randolph-Macon and sunk 5-6 three-pointers in the game and scored 18 points to lead the team while Daniel Noe finished with 13 points, including three three-pointers of his own. Korey Turner and Montese Adams each collected 10 points each while Grayson Midulla tallied eight points, three assists and finished 4-4 from the free throw line. The Yellow Jackets held their biggest lead with 4:26 remaining in the game 75-46 with a three-pointer by Luke Neeley. The Yellow Jackets shot 49% (28-57) from the floor, 36% (11-30) from the three-point line and 85% (12-24) from the free throw line.
 
In the final four minutes of action, the Roadrunners closed out the game on a 15-4 run closing the gap to a 18 point difference, 79-61. The Roadrunners were led by Thomas Bonacum who recorded 13 points, seven rebounds, two assists and one steal while Jordan Zagadou came off the bench to put in 11 points and five rebounds. Christopher Moseley and Josh Ford each chipped in with ten points and five rebounds. The team shot 33% (20-60) from the floor and 66% (20-30) from the free throw line while the Roadrunner defense forced 19 Yellow Jacket turnovers, which turned into 19 points for Ramapo.
 
The Roadrunners, who are ranked #5 in the D3hoops.com Preseason Top 25 poll, return to action tomorrow afternoon in the consolation game at 1pm. Ramapo will go up against host Marymount University. The Saints stand at 0-2 overall, they lost in the opening round game of the Tournament this afternoon against Geneseo 87-72.
