Senior R.J. Collins hit back-to-back 3-pointers late in the second half to spark the Pacific men's basketball team to a 79-73 win over host Evergreen State on Tuesday in Olympia.

Trailing by one, 66-65 with 4:49 to play, after an Evergreen timeout, Collins hit the first of consecutive 3-pointers that put the Boxers ahead 68-66 with 4:33 to go. Then, the Hollister, California native stretched the lead to five when he hit his fourth 3-pointer on the night that put Pacific ahead for the rest of the contest.

Pacific (6-0) withstood a season-high 11-point deficit in the win. Junior Brevin Brown (Everett, Wash.) had a game-high 24 points – 19 of which came in the opening 20 minutes – to lead four Boxers in double digits. Pacific is now 6-0 for the first time to begin a season for the first time since the 1990-91 campaign.

Evergreen State (0-5) landed three players in double figures including Ryan Quigley, who accounted for 20 points to lead the Geoducks. Pat Ling and Jaurence Chisholm each added 14 in the defeat.

The Geoducks scored the first eight points of the second half to stretch a three-point half to 11, 48-37 with 17:11 left to play. To set up the comeback, Pacific scored 18 of the next 26 points to tie the game at 55 and for the seventh time in the game.

Joining Brown in double digits was Collins, who had 16 and Davis Holly and Jay Merriweather, who each had 11. Holly handed out a career-high seven assists and Nate Olowo was a presence on the inside with seven points including a convincing throwdown after the Geoducks had cut the deficit to two with 1:49 to go to complement his team-high seven rebounds.

Next up for Pacific is a matchup against Linfield on Saturday evening to begin the rigors of the Northwest Conference play. The matchup will start at 6 p.m. in the Stoller Center.
