SUNY Canton Defeats Keuka College in Men’s Basketball

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Keuka College Men's Basketball team defeated Keuka College on Sunday 67-59 in the consolation game of the Holiday Inn Rochester Downtown Tournament at the University of Rochester.

Cliff Stevens (Ballston Spa, N.Y. / Ballston Spa) led Keuka College (2-3) with 15 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double. Also scoring in double-figures for the Wolves was Doupe (Phoenix, N.Y. / John C. Birdlebough).

SUNY Canton 67 vs. Keuka College 59

Matt Estes (Watkins Glen, N.Y. / Watkins Glen) scored the first four points of the game for the Wolves trailed 7-4 five minutes into the game. Keuka College continued to trail early before going on a run. The Green and Gold scored 10 unanswered points with a Cliff Stevens three-point play giving them a 15-14 lead. The Wolves extended with lead and run to 14 points with a pair of layups by Dylan Doupe to make it 19-14 Keuka with nine minutes left in a half. A three by SUNY Canton snapped the run. The lead would change hands five times in the final minutes of the half. SUNY Canton closed the period with six straight points to lead 35-30 at the half.

SUNY Canton outscored Keuka College 7-2 in the opening minutes of the second half to grow their lead. The Wolves continued to fight, bringing the Roo lead down to five, 52-47, with 10 minutes left in the game. SUNY Canton responded with a 6-0 run over the next four minutes before David Oliveras (Great Mills, Md. / Great Mills) knocked down a three for the Wolves. Keuka got the lead back down to five points with 3:28 left following a layup by Ryder Mansfield (Charlotte, N.C. / Charlotte United). After a pair of Roos free throws, Clifff Stevens nailed a three to make it a four-point game. That would be as close as Keuka would make it however as SUNY Canton made free throws down the stretch to defeat Keuka College 67-59.

Keuka College hosts Penn College at 6pm. The Wolves have won all three meetings with the Wildcats, most recently winning 73-59 on David M. Sweet Court last season.
