How It Happened
Lebanon Valley used a balanced attack to jump out to a comfortable lead before holding off a late Elizabethtown charge in an 82-72 non-conference victory at Sorrentino Gymnasium on Tuesday night, Nov. 21.

The Flying Dutchmen (4-0) saw four players reach the double-digit scoring mark, with Sam Light scoring a game-high 22 points on 75 percent shooting from the floor, Andy Orr finishing one rebound shy of a double-double with 15/9, Ricky Bugg tallying 16, and Chris Anderson netting 12 points on 5-6 shooting from the field.

LVC and the Blue Jays (0-3) traded the lead five times in the game's first seven minutes before the home team put together a 15-3 run that included 3-pointers by Bugg, Light, and Caleb Barwin, as well as layups from Orr and Anderson. By the midway point of the opening half, the Dutchmen were out in front 25-13.

E-Town methodically clawed back into it and cut the deficit to six following a jumper by Connor Moffatt at the 7:19 mark but Lebanon Valley responded with another 15-3 run over the final 5:51 of the first half that was capped by a Bugg steal and Light fastbreak layup. The push cemented the Dutchmen lead at 42-24 heading into the break.

LVC took its largest lead of the night at 48-28 when Light connected from beyond the arc off a CJ Boxley assist with 17:08 left to play and held an advantage as large as 19 points with little more than seven minutes remaining.

From there, the visitors chipped away and used a 15-6 run to cut the Lebanon Valley advantage to single digits for the first time since the opening moments. Bryce Greene nailed back-to-back treys to bring the Blue Jays to within seven with 1:20 remaining and Moffatt added a jumper from distance to cut the deficit to 78-72 with 50 seconds left to play.

Greene had another look from downtown in the final 30 seconds but it bounced away, forcing Elizabethtown to foul in the final moments. Orr andZach Tucker went 4-4 down the stretch to end the comeback bid and seal the victory for the Dutchmen.

It Was Over When…
When Michael Pastore's 3-pointer with 2:46 left to play cut the LVC lead to single digits for the first time in the second half, the Dutchmen needed a spark to halt the E-Town momentum. They got it in the form of a Ricky Bugg defensive rebound and outlet pass to Andy Orr who finished off the play with a two-handed jam that pushed the Lebanon Valley advantage to 74-63 with 2:09 remaining. The Blue Jays connected on a few desperation 3-balls down the stretch but it proved too little too late.
