Tigers Crush Cal Miramar

LOS ANGELESAustin DeWitz dominated the game while only scoring two points as the Oxy men's basketball team blew out Cal Miramar 81-46 at Rush Gymnasium on Monday.

The Tigers got up big early and held on for an easy wire-to-wire victory.

DeWitz, a 6-foot-6 junior from Oregon who led the Tigers in minutes per game last season, had 14 rebounds, four assists, three steals and three blocks while playing outstanding on-ball and help defense. 

Zach Baines was the Tigers' leading scorer with 12 points and he also had six rebounds and five assists. 

Oxy's bench scored 45 points led by Oliver Xu who had 10 on 4 for 5 shooting, including two threes. Jacob Adler scored eight, and Tyler Sweeney and Jeevin Sandhu had seven. Jonny Crosthwaite scored four points and had 10 rebounds off the bench.

Ryan Kaneshiro had nine points and four rebounds, Caleb Yellin-Flaherty had eight points and five rebounds, and Isaiah De La Fuente had five points, six rebounds and two assists. 

Oxy held Cal Miramar to just 27 percent shooting, including 0 for 10 from beyond the 3-point line. 

The Tigers also moved the ball well in transition without much resistance, assisting on 25 of their baskets.

Steven Adams led Cal Miramar with eight points. 

Oxy will play Cal Miramar again on Nov. 20 at Rush Gym. 

Season Impact: The Tigers win their third game in a row, improving to 3-0 on the season.

Next Game: Oxy is back in action against Westcliff at Rush Gym on Nov. 28 at 7 p.m.
