LOS ANGELES — Andrew Johnson was named to the D3hoops.com All-West Region Third team on Monday, capping his career with another award.
Johnson, a 6-foot-5 forward from Loyola HS in Los Angeles, led the SCIAC in scoring at 19.7 ppg and was second in rebounding at 7.4 rpg. He also shot 50 percent from the field and was fourth in steals at 1.5 spg.
Johnson is a three-time All-SCIAC selection, twice on the Second Team and once on the First Team in 2016-17. He received the second most votes for First Team from the conference coaches behind the Player of the Year Michael Scarlett of Claremont-Mudd-Scripps.
"We couldn't be happier for one of the best in our conference over the last couple of years," Oxy head coach Brian Newhall said. "AJ has been a terrific player for Oxy and an even much better person. We look forward to the great things he has ahead of him as he graduates and takes the next step life."
Johnson inked his way into the Oxy basektball record books too. He surpassed the great Finn Rebasso '03 for second on the all-time Oxy scoring list, scoring 1,569 points and grabbing 725 rebounds in 99 games in his career.
The Tigers finished fifth in the SCIAC, going 14-11 overall and 6-10 in SCIAC play.
Scarlett was the only other SCIAC player to be recognized by D3hoops.com.
