LA VERNE, Calif. — Hakim Arnold and Anthony White of the La Verne men's basketball team earned All-Conference awards on Wednesday after stellar seasons.
Arnold was named First Team All-SCIAC and White was selected to Second Team as voted by the leagues' head coaches.
Arnold, a 6-foot-2 guard from San Diego, was one of only two players in the SCIAC to rank in the top-5 in points per game (18.1, 4th) and rebounds per game (7.1, 3rd). Arnold was also extremely efficient. While taking second-most shots per game in SCIAC play, Arnold averaged 50.2 percent shooting from the field, which ranks him ninth in the conference. It is his second First Team All-SCIAC honor.
White finishes his career with his first all-conference recognition. The 6-foot-3 Murrieta native emerged as an explosive scorer capable of getting a shot off at any spot on the floor. He led the league in 3-pointers made and converted the long range shots at a 40 percent clip. His 16.4 points per game in the SCIAC ranks him seventh in the league.
The duo was instrumental in leading the Leopards to their first SCIAC Postseason Tournament since 2011 and the best season (16-10, 10-6 SCIAC) in head coach Richard Reed's tenure.
