RADNOR, PA. -- Arron Goodman sank a three-pointer at the buzzer lifting the third-seeded Gwynedd Mercy Griffins to a wild 73-71 win at second-seeded Cabrini in a 2017 Colonial States Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Tournament Semifinal contest Wednesday night.

The defending champion Griffins move on to the CSAC Championship Game on Saturday, where they'll play at top-seeded Neumann, who won 87-69 over Rosemont in tonight's other semifinal, in a 2 p.m. tip. It will be a rematch of last season's title contest between the two teams.

Goodman's three capped a huge 17-point second-half comeback as the senior would finish with a game-high 28 points. After Cabrini's Deryl Bagwell's jumper with 16 seconds remaining put the Cavaliers ahead by one.  On the ensuing Gwynedd possession, Bagwell would block Rip Engel's drive to the basket out of bounds on the right baseline. On the inbound, Matt Sommers found Goodman at the top of the key where he buried his third three on the night as the clock struck zero, sending the bench into a frenzy.

In the first half, the Cavaliers would build a nine-point edge (24-15), their largest of the stanza with 7:33 remaining. Gwynedd would get back-to-back triples from Goodman and Rip Engel as part of a 12-0 run to go up three. Cabrini used a run of their own, a 6-0 spurt over the last two minutes, to take a 30-27 lead at halftime.

The Cavaliers rode their momentum into the second, opening the stanza on a 17-3 run to hold their largest lead of the contest (47-30) at the 15:53 mark. Gwynedd however started their comeback, chipping away at the deficit over the next seven-plus minutes. Cedric Elleby's bucket capped a 24-8 run to get GM within one (55-54) with eight minutes to go.

Later tied at 59-59, Goodman put the wraps on a three-point play and after a Rich Dunham layup, Gwynedd had a five-point lead with 4:29 to play. Cabrini did not go away, turning in a 9-2 run to go back ahead, 68-66 with 2:43 showing.

Now under a minute in the game, the teams traded baskets to take one-point leads, the last coming from Bagwell with 19 ticks, setting up Gwynedd's final possession and game-winning shot.

Bagwell finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Teammate Tyheim Monroe netted 25 while Ryan Charity added 16 and DeVahnte Mosley kicked in 12.

Elleby totaled 15 points, eight boards, two block, and two steals. Courtney Cubbage registered 10 points and 10 rebounds for a double double. After shooting 31% in the first half (11-of-35), they would go 16-of-39 (41%) in the second.

This will be the eighth appearance in the conference championship game and third time on the road. This is the second meeting between the two squads in the title tilt.
