Senior Steven Weidlich scored a game-high 28 points including eight 3-pointers to lead the Susquehanna University Men's Basketball team to another come-for-behind victory with an 85-74 win over Drew University Saturday afternoon in a Landmark Conference game and Senior Day at O.W. Houts Gymnasium in Selinsgrove.

Susquehanna (20-3 overall, 10-2 Landmark), ranked No. 19 in the country according to the latest D3hoops.com top-25, trailed by as many as 12 points in the second half against Drew (11-12, 5-7) but rallied as Weidlich sparked a 15-3 run to tie the score at 56-56 on an Adam Dizbon 3-pointer with 12:36 left to play.

The teams traded baskets over the next few minutes and with the score tied at 70-70 with 5:56 remaining, Susquehanna took off on a 14-2 run to pull away. Ryan Traub, Jason Dietrich, Weidlich and Dalton Reichard hit consecutive layups to start the run and Traub added two more inside baskets with a Dizbon layup in the middle to cap the run.

"I think we had a solid game plan," said head coach Frank Marcinek. "Our half-court defense was good all day but we gave up some points in transition and we needed to play better there and slow them down a bit to be able to pull away. I thought Adam (Dizbon) was great today. As he made a couple shots you could see his confidence growing."

Both teams were hot early as Weidlich scored the first 11 River Hawk points of the game.

"It was an emotional senior day ceremony for me," said Weidlich. "That might have had something to do with it but I remembered getting off to a slow start in the game at Drew earlier this year and I was determined not to have that happen again."

The River Hawks were consistent offensively throughout the game but played stronger defense in the second half as Dizbon saw more minutes down the stretch.

"I know I'm not out there to score points," said Dizbon who finished with 14 points off the bench. "I was out there for defense but I had some chances and some shots were falling for me."

The win for the River Hawks couple with Scranton losing by a points at Catholic put Susquehanna alone in first place in the Landmark Conference standings. The River Hawks play at Scranton Wednesday and finish the regular season at Elizabethtown next Saturday.
