POTSDAM, N.Y.—Plattsburgh State (11-11, 7-9 SUNYAC) shot over 50 percent from the floor to down the SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team (2-21, 1-15) 99-78 on Friday night at Jerry Welsh Gymnasium. Freshman guard Danny Desol-Lowry (Queens, N.Y./Queens H.S. of Teaching) led the Bears with 13 points, four assists and two steals. Sophomore guard Dante Langley (Schuylerville, N.Y./Schuylerville) scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Nosa Onabor (Brooklyn, N.Y./Northside Charter) also scored 11 points and freshman guard Jayquan Thomas (Hollis, N.Y./Richmond Hill) finished with 10 points. Sophomore forward Jonathan Patron (Huntington, N.Y./Harborfields) had a game-high 36 points and 15 boards for the Cardinals.

Buckets by freshman Aaron Armstrong (Lisbon, N.Y./Madrid-Waddington) and Kristoff Saunders (Queens, N.Y./Queens H.S. of Teaching) put Potsdam up early. However, a Patron 3-pointer erased the lead and started a 10-0 Plattsburgh run. Two free-throws from Delsol-Lowry closed the gap to 17-12 at 12:56, but the Cardinals answered with another 12-2 stretch for a 15-point lead just over two minutes later. Plattsburgh continued to shoot well and took a 54-34 lead into the half. Patron had 22 points in the first 20 minutes on 10 of 14 shooting.

Potsdam nearly matched the Cardinals point-for-point in the second half, but couldn't pick up enough ground. Patron scored 14 more and grabbed eight more rebounds in the second. Langley scored all 11 of his points in the final period.

Sophomore guard Brandon Johnson (Greenburgh, N.Y./Woodlands) scored 15 points for Plattsburgh and junior guard Eli Bryant (Staten Island, N.Y./Petrides School) added 14 points and six assists. The Cardinals edged the Bears on the glass 42-41.

Potsdam wraps up the season on the road next week as they head to Brockport and Geneseo.
